A concentrate of history(ies)

My “Roots”

I was born in 1898 in the Rhône-Alpes basin.
My founder Noël Perrot-Berton, anxious to divert French railway workers from the wines and anisettes that they used daily to give their water a better taste, developed a passion for liquorice and its exceptional properties. Feeling invested with a real public health mission, he developed my very first version after several months of research!
The first ultra-concentrated in France! A natural and economical way to flavor water, with an ultra-concentrated, healthy, tasty and particularly thirst-quenching recipe.
He chose to name me Antésite, from the Latin “Ante Sitis”, which means “against thirst”.

History of an icon

For over 130 years, my recipe, combining the power of liquorice with the subtlety of star anise, has quickly won over the French. Having become the drink of families, I have found my place everywhere and
to all audiences! I was then served in factory canteens, hospitals, steel companies, mines, holiday camps, and even in army portions!
With my little bottle, recognizable among thousands, I accompanied the French in their daily lives, becoming a culinary heritage appreciated beyond borders.
A true icon and unique representative of my species, I have traveled the world and delighted generations of gourmets, particularly in the Maghreb where I am highly appreciated for my intense freshness.
and my unique taste.

Seeing myself in a new light

Since my creation, the secret recipe for my bottle with the red cap has hardly changed!
Perpetuating this Proust madeleine for many French people, I have been able to cross the ages...
…and reinvent myself!
While pampering my roots, I knew how to innovate and differentiate myself to offer different hydration experiences, sometimes fruits, sometimes plants, sometimes flowers...
As a result, 16 other perfumes have joined my family tree!
In addition, recently, I have been dusting myself off to take on a new brand identity that is still authentic but more assertive! (We hope you like it!)
After all my digressions you are still wondering who I am? ... It's simple, I am licorice.

From 1898 to 2000 ...

1898

BIRTH OF A MYTH

The apothecary Noël Perrot-Berton developed Antésite, a “hygienic, clear and limpid” drink whose ambition was to divert the French from their then daily consumption of wines and aniseed aperitifs. Developed without sugars or sweeteners, thirst-quenching and economical (a few drops are enough!), the black concentrate with intense aromas quickly enjoyed success and established itself
as an icon in the country's culinary heritage.

...until today

2015

Antésite comes out of all-licorice

Capitalizing on its historical know-how, Antésite innovates and makes a strategic shift: the brand frees itself from liquorice and launches a new range of concentrates based on tea or fruit.
As always, the company's founding values are respected: the recipes, without added sugars or sweeteners, are developed to be as close to nature as possible.
